Bloodhound Diary Day 5 – Today was a great day. Daddy didn’t have to hardly fuss at me at all. I woke. I played. I only had one potty boo boo in the house. I have been trying hard not to have potty boo boo’s. Since I have started going to the door, it seems to have helped alot for daddy to know when I have to make an unscheduled trip outside to the potty place. I thought he would be harder to train, but daddy seems to catch on to things pretty quick. He is almost as smart as a Bloodhound.
They must make worn out shoes out of dogs?
Once when I was outside I saw one of the cats roaming around. I kept a close watch on him to make sure he didn’t sneak up on me and stab my face with the giant claws again. Cats are so evil. He sneaked off while I was fighting with a blade of grass. My fierceness must have scared him. Stupid cat.
I got to go for a long walk today with Jax. It was really fun. We played run-away. I chased him and he ran away. Then I chased him some more and he ran away some more. He is so nice to take the time and play with me. All the extra running was good for both of us. By the time we got home we were tired. Daddy said we looked like a couple of ‘old wore out shoes’. Not to sure what a shoe is but it must look alot like a dog (cause me and Jax are dogs of course).
While we were out running around I saw some really strange things. I know they were not cats and since they didn’t look very sneaky, I can safely say they were not squirrels. This is what they looked like.
They were all making this funny noise. It sounded like baaaaaa. Daddy said they were called Barbados Blackbelly Sheep. Cool! There were so many and they smelled really fun. But since they were inside a fence I couldn’t play with them. They followed us as we walked along the fence. Then we came to the end of the fence so I had to say goodbye.
So many new things for me to see and smell. Every day is like an adventure.

Bloodhound Diary Day 4 – Today started the same as the others. We woke, we pottied, we ate and drank followed by lots and lots of playing. Even though it was early in the day it was already getting hot so the times we spent outside was shorter than usual. Daddy doesn’t want me to get too hot cause he said it will make me sick. It was ok with me because we can play as much in the house. There is plenty of space and a gazillion (is that a word?) toys to grab.
Cats are a four letter word!
On one of our trips outside I saw something really really cool. It was something I had never seen before! They were small furry creatures, definitely NOT dogs. They had funny looking fur, pointed ears and lots of sharp teeth. Oh, and they had small noses.
They moved slow and carefully. Then it hit me. They were moving slow and carefully because they were sneaking. Yesss sneeeeaaakking. That could mean only one thing. . . they were SQUIRRELS! I was sooo happy I finally saw one. Let me show you.
I was thinking these squirrels were much bigger than I imagined. How could I not have seen them till now when, as I got closer I realized something was strange about these squirrels. They smelled funny. They didn’t smell anything like what I had smelled on our walks near the big trees. I was getting confused.
As I eased closer being careful not to scare them off I heard my daddy say ‘well hey kitty’. Then he looked at me and told me that these were cats and to be careful. Hmmmm cats. New friends to play with. So I kept easing closer to these 2 cats wagging my tail and trying to look friendly till we touched noses. At first one of them made this strange purrrrrrrrr sound and I got a little scared. Then I thought well if it was a growl to try to scare me that it was a pretty weak one. So there was nothing to fear so I felt better. I sniffed and sniffed the cat and it rubbed against my face. I was sooo happy. Someone to play with outside ; )

Bloodhound Diary Day 3 – Every day there are new and wonderful things to smell, eat and meet. Some have been good, some require further investigation and some are just plain bad. I have found that most things I have tasted have been really good. Good things I make sure to store in my bloodhound data-bank (because they are good). Bad things I store in my bloodhound data-bank (because they are bad of course). Ok, I guess everything goes into my bloodhound data-bank.
It is getting kinda crowded and messy in there ;/
I like the food my daddy puts in my bowl. I like the treat he gives me in the morning after potty time or when I do something good. I liked something my daddy gave me that he called ‘pizza crust’. . . OMG it was sooo good (too bad he only gave me a little)! My daddy said that all pizza is made in heaven and delivered to earth on the wings of angels. He is daddy so he must be right. He even gave me something called a ‘fish stick’ though I am not sure if it tasted better than it smelled or smelled better than it tasted. Both are so much fun.
My daddy says it is best for my growth and development to keep me on a stable and predictable diet. This would be the food he puts in my bowl. He says that it is not only nutritious for me (whatever that means), but it aids in regulating my bowel and digestion making it easier for me to potty train on a predictable schedule. Lots’a words there I don’t understand but I am sure my daddy does. He always knows whats good for me.
This is why anything he gives me as a ‘treat’ is given only in small portions and usually as a reward. Treats, when given on occasion and only in small portions are less likely interfere with eating my real dinners. They are also less likely to irritate my bowel causing me to become uncomfortable with gas or to develop a runny or loose stool when I potty. This will make me have to go potty at unpredictable times increasing my chances of having a bad (and stinky) accident in the house. He says it will also make me feel not so good.
This is stuff my daddy said I should be kept completely away from.
