Full Moon Bloodhound Diary Day 6 – Last night while me and my daddy were outside for a late night potty it seemed much brighter than usual. I could see everything so clearly, it was almost as if I were running around in the daytime. My daddy picked me up and pointed my head up toward the big sky and that’s when I saw it. It was so beautiful and bright. Daddy called it ‘the Moon’.

Aliens are Among Us!

We stood there for a while in the yard. Daddy holding me, both of us looking up. While we watched the big sky we listened to all the insects making strange noises from their hiding places. They were the only sounds to be heard. It felt like all the dogs and humans were asleep in the world. Just me, daddy and the insects awake, looking at the brightness in the sky. It was nice.

While we watched the big sky we saw a bright light streaming across it. It was awesome, I have never seen anything like that before. Of course I had never really seen the moon before this night either. Daddy said it was a shooting star and if I made a wish it would come true.

Just when I was making my wish, he said that it may not be a star after all. I wondered what else could it be, and he said that it might be a spaceship full of aliens on their way to earth. I don’t know what an alien (or spaceship) is, but it sounded like it may be something scary.

I am hunting sneaky squirrels. We went back inside for the night so I didn’t think much more about it. I went back to bed falling fast asleep and dreamed of the moon.

In my dream I ran and ran, chasing the scent of a pack of sneaky squirrels. I sniffed all the grass, I sniffed all the bushes, finally getting the sneaky squirrels cornered up a tree when . . . out of the tree came this scary thing, and it wasn’t a squirrel.

I yelped for my daddy but I made no sound. I tried to run away but my legs were moving sooo slowly. I didn’t seem to be going anywhere no matter how hard I tried. The scary thing said ‘come here little dog, we have come to earth in search of food and dogs are our most favorite thing to eat’.

It was then that I realized what this scary thing was. This was an ALIEN!

I tried to yelp again but made no sound. My heart was pounding in my chest. I couldn’t breath. Then it reached for me . . . it clawed and grabbed at my legs and that’s when I woke up. It was such a horrible dream.

I was so happy to be awake and safe at home with my mommy and daddy and Jax and Cassey. It was the worst dream I had ever had in all my 9 weeks of life!

Later in the day when I was outside playing in the yard, I managed to put the bad dream out of my mind. Me and daddy went to get the mail like we always do, I sniffed for sneaky squirrels like I always do and the evil cats were waiting to ambush me like they always do.

Everything seemed normal and fine when . . . I saw the alien. It wasn’t as big as the one in my dream (this must be a baby alien or the really small super sneaky kind), but I am sure it came from space. Probably here because they had run out of dogs to eat, just like the one in my dream. Let me show you what I saw.

Super Small Sneaky Alien I stood there just looking at it. I tried to move but couldn’t. It looked at me and I looked at it for a long time. I was sure it was thinking of what I tasted like so I tried not to look tasty. If I could have talked to it I would have told it that I was really really sick and he (was it a he?) would get really sick too if he ate me. Such a strange and scary looking Alien. I wondered how many more were here.

From out of nowhere something picked me up off the ground. I was so startled that I yelped and howled as loud as I could. I didn’t want to be eaten. Then I realized, it was daddy who picked me up.

He hugged me and pet me asking ‘whats wrong boy?’. I was so happy it was daddy. Daddy came to save me from the alien. Daddy bent down and looked at the alien with me. He said ‘look boy, its a Praying Mantis’. Daddy seemed to know what it was so maybe it wasn’t an alien after all. I felt kinda dumb but I was sooo relieved.

He brought me inside and gave me a treat. We played some more then settled down for a nap. This time I dreamed of hunting sneaky squirrels and not about aliens. I was safe. I was happy.

No aliens would be eating me today ; ) Stupid aliens.

If you enjoy reading about Anubis, he would be happy to hear from you.

A Note from my Mommy and Daddy:

We selected Anubis after much consideration. He is beautiful, healthy and seems to be very intelligent. We are looking forward to helping him reach his potential as a bloodhound and as a member of our family.

While Anubis is growing up, my wife and I (aka the human mommy and daddy) thought it would be interesting to chronicle his growth, learning and development as seen from ‘his’ perspective.

In addition to being entertaining, we also felt this may help others who desire to have their own bloodhound in understanding not only the development of a dog, but specific issues which may pertain to the bloodhound breed.

Bloodhounds are a wonderful breed. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions.
