Hello, My Name is Anubis Bloodhound Diary Day 5 – Today was a great day. Daddy didn’t have to hardly fuss at me at all. I woke. I played. I only had one potty boo boo in the house. I have been trying hard not to have potty boo boo’s. Since I have started going to the door, it seems to have helped alot for daddy to know when I have to make an unscheduled trip outside to the potty place. I thought he would be harder to train, but daddy seems to catch on to things pretty quick. He is almost as smart as a Bloodhound.

They must make worn out shoes out of dogs?

Once when I was outside I saw one of the cats roaming around. I kept a close watch on him to make sure he didn’t sneak up on me and stab my face with the giant claws again. Cats are so evil. He sneaked off while I was fighting with a blade of grass. My fierceness must have scared him. Stupid cat.

I got to go for a long walk today with Jax. It was really fun. We played run-away. I chased him and he ran away. Then I chased him some more and he ran away some more. He is so nice to take the time and play with me. All the extra running was good for both of us. By the time we got home we were tired. Daddy said we looked like a couple of ‘old wore out shoes’. Not to sure what a shoe is but it must look alot like a dog (cause me and Jax are dogs of course).

While we were out running around I saw some really strange things. I know they were not cats and since they didn’t look very sneaky, I can safely say they were not squirrels. This is what they looked like. Barbados Blackbelly Sheep They were all making this funny noise. It sounded like baaaaaa. Daddy said they were called Barbados Blackbelly Sheep. Cool! There were so many and they smelled really fun. But since they were inside a fence I couldn’t play with them. They followed us as we walked along the fence. Then we came to the end of the fence so I had to say goodbye.

So many new things for me to see and smell. Every day is like an adventure.

Daddy says we will probably spend alot of time outside tomorrow. I can’t wait. I am sure it will be fun. He also said that he talked to his Veterinarian about me and will be taking me in for a checkup in a few weeks. That sounds like it will be fun too ; )

Daddy says that all I really need is a basic health exam right now because he has already wormed me and gave me some shots. The only thing that my daddy has been treating me for is a minor ear infection, which the Veterinarian had already given him some medicine for. He says that Bloodhounds are known to have occasional ear problems, which is why he keeps the medicine on hand.

Daddy can take care of alot of things for me because he knows alot about dogs and medicine. He also told me that he spent many years as a Paramedic so he is really good at spotting signs of injury and illness and taking care of medical problems I might have. Not really sure what all that means but since he is daddy I know he is right.

Well I have to get a good sleep so I will be ready for playtime tomorrow. Every day is another chance for a new adventure.

A Note from my Mommy and Daddy:

We selected Anubis after much consideration. He is beautiful, healthy and seems to be very intelligent. We are looking forward to helping him reach his potential as a bloodhound and as a member of our family.

While Anubis is growing up, my wife and I (aka the human mommy and daddy) thought it would be interesting to chronicle his growth, learning and development as seen from ‘his’ perspective.

In addition to being entertaining, we also felt this may help others who desire to have their own bloodhound in understanding not only the development of a dog, but specific issues which may pertain to the bloodhound breed.

Bloodhounds are a wonderful breed. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions.
