Bloodhound Diary Day 20 – Today is starting out to be a busy day. After helping my daddy around the house this morning, we had breakfast then headed out for our morning walk. Even though it was still early, it was already getting hot. And the humidity was terrible.
When we got back home, daddy decided this would be a play inside day. This was fine with me because the short time we were outside already made me feel like I was starting to melt. Daddy tells me that melting would make me have more wrinkles, and I already have enough of those.
What the heck is email?
I had just settled down to gnaw on my favorite bone when daddy told me I had some email I needed to get answered. Me? Email? I thought about this for a few minutes and drew a complete blank. I had no idea what email was. Then my daddy showed me.
Ahhhh. Something to do with the box on the desk. So that’s what that thing is for.
He showed me what this email thing was. Then he proceeded to read the ones that had been sent to me out loud so I would know what they were about. They were from people who had read about me and decided to write me to say hello. What a nice thing for someone to do.
One of the emails was from a nice woman who had read about me on a website called Zootoo, a pet community site. She made this funny picture of me with other animals and things. What a nice thing to do.
I really like the picture, it made me and my daddy laugh.
Daddy said he would help me to answer the email. I was glad to hear that because I don’t know how to, and even if I did know how to, I think my paws are too big for typing. Daddy says he doesn’t have a ‘dog friendly’ keyboard.
After answering the email we spent some time playing, then watched a movie together. I don’t remember most of it because I fell asleep. Daddy thought I might be extra tired so he let me stay asleep. I guess answering the email wore me out.
We ate an early dinner, then braved the heat for our evening walk. Rain looked like it was heading our way so we kept it short. I think the weather was keeping everything inside because we didn’t find anything interesting on our walks today.
Oh no! Giant green apple invasion . . . runnnnnn!
The evening was relaxing. After a short playtime daddy gave me a bath which made me smell of green apples. Why any respectable bloodhound would want to smell of green apples, I just don’t know. It did feel good being clean despite the fruity smelliness.
Well, it’s bed time for me. I hope I don’t dream of being chased by giant green apples. I would much rather dream I am the great Jaffa Bloodhound of SG-1, traveling to distant planets. An adventure awaiting us on the other side of the stargate. I guess I will see which dream wins.
Something tells me that it will be the giant green apples.
If you enjoy reading about Anubis, he would be happy to hear from you.![]()

A Note from my Mommy and Daddy:
We selected Anubis after much consideration. He is beautiful, healthy and seems to be very intelligent. We are looking forward to helping him reach his potential as a bloodhound and as a member of our family.
While Anubis is growing up, my wife and I (aka the human mommy and daddy) thought it would be interesting to chronicle his growth, learning and development as seen from ‘his’ perspective.
In addition to being entertaining, we also felt this may help others who desire to have their own bloodhound in understanding not only the development of a dog, but specific issues which may pertain to the bloodhound breed.
Bloodhounds are a wonderful breed. You are welcome to contact us if you have any questions.
